5 Bugles: Blown Away
3 Bugles: Not quite a blast, but worth seeing anyway.
1 Bugle: A bit off key, not really worth spending money on. |

G-Force
If you believe a special task force of hampsters can save the world, this movie was made for you. If not stay away. |
|
Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
All the old favourites are back with a sprinkling of new faces. Dare we say better than the earlier ones? The humour was spot-on. Great family fare and well worth watching. |
|
Disgrace
A deeply harrowing tale by famed author JM Coetzee that reportedly deeply upset the ANC on how particularly black people were reflected in the book. The movie largely sticks to the original storyline and the tale is not for the faint-hearted (or the politically correct). |
|
The Proposal
All American sweetheart Sandra Bullock does it again. But this time she is not trying to save a bus from exploding (Speed), but her career from imploding. Great family entertainment. |
|
My Sister's Keeper
A real tearjerker about a young girl who takes her family to court to protect her rights to her own body (and parts thereof). Of course its not only about her, it is also about her sister who suffers from a deadly disease. Well worth seeing. |
|
The Hangover
Everyone who has ever been a student will recognize either themselves or someone they knew during their wild 'varsity' years. A group of men go for a night on the town in Las Vagas before one of them ties the knot. There are some really funny moments, as well as a few gross ones. Not for the faint-hearted. |
|
Terminator Salvation
The fourth movie in the Terminator Franchise has received mixed reviews, but this will not prevent fans from rushing to see the latest offering. Of course another drawback is that 'Governator ' Arnold Schwarzenegger is not the star in this one.. Don’t look for anything deep. Lots of killing machines, lots of action. |
|
Duplicity
The name gives the game away. A good plot and good performances by both Julia Roberts and Clive Owen, but one is left with a feeling of unfinished business. |
|
Night at the Museum 2
We all know the concept. After hours the exhibits at the museum become alive and all sorts of things happen. Its more of the same, but the sequel is actually better than the first. The whole family will enjoy. |
|
The International
Spies, damn spies and bankers. Actor Clive Owen is an Interpol agent that fights evil – in this case a bank group that promotes anarchy and terrorism across the world. So if you’ve always hated your bank manager, go see this one – and it’s a damn good yarn too. |
|
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Fans of the X-Men franchise will no doubt be salivating (excuse the pun) to be taken back to the very origin of the action packed franchise, but even non-fans will enjoy Wolverine. |
|
Tornado and the Kalahari Horse Whisperer
South African movie maker Regard van den Bergh hits all the rights notes in this moving tale of a young man and a horse on the verge of self destruction. Redemtion indeed comes in many forms. |
|
17 Again
If it's not Brad Pitt turning into a baby, it's a teenager swopping bodies with her mom, or a dad becoming a dog. In Hollywood at the moment it is all about changing places. In this movie Matthew Perry becomes his much younger 17-year self (who is none other than teenage heartthrob Zac Efron).
Despite many past movies of the same ilk, this one works. |
